Hot weather Fifey and I are keen outdoor swimmers, be it rivers, outdoor pools or the sea, so we had a beautiful afternoon swimming in the river Rede, just a stone's throw from the house. The water was surprisingly warm, and it was a genuine pleasure rather than an invigorating heart stopping plunge.

Earlier in the week I took Spencer (horse) to Druridge Bay for a ride along the vast beach to get away from the flies enjoy ourselves. I persuaded my friend, who also brought her horse, to go for a dip in the sea. That was a short exhilarating plunge.
